Rick Kelly has been hand crafting guitars for over 50 years in his hometown of New York for artists including Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Charlie Sexton, Kirk Douglas and Bill Frisell to name a few.
Rick's work - which includes the use of reclaimed timbers from historic NY locations - is the subject of a beautifully made feature film, Carmine Street Guitars, directed by Ron Mann.
The film includes a star studded line-up of guitarists, but is as much a tale of Rick and his apprentice Cindy Hulej's time honoured craft in an increasingly gentrified neighbourhood.
